Erceg as we know went into this fight 3-0 in the UFC 12-1 overall, and I was not be able to watch it but i red the PBP and it sounded like this man has great composure, by what happened and what people are saying it's incredible he hasn't been in the UFC even over a year I believe.

Erceg was composed, in phenomenal condition, and 100% got the better of Panto on the feet while getting taken down but staying out of real trouble on the ground and getting back to his feet consistently. Supremely impressive for a guy who hasn’t even been in the UFC for a year. His stock skyrocketed last night and he’ll be a perennial title contender. Dude’s only 27 years old.

Erceg has nothing to hang his head over. He fought very well. The experience difference was simply too much. Rounds 2 and 3 in particular were very, very close. He absolutely showed he is championship material.

Pantoja on the other hand I feel like isn't gonna get enough credit for his performance. He fought an incredible fight. His cardio and durability is becoming the stuff of legend. His grappling absolutely won him the fight though. Pantojas scrambling ability and the way he smothers his opponents is just world class.

Erceg thought he lost, Ercegs corner thought he lost, the judges thought he lost...

But most importantly, I thought he lost.

So any of you who think Erceg won, shame on you. You are just being arrogant

I’m okay with 3-2 either way. I gave 3,4 to ecreg and the swing round felt like round 2 for me. I’m not 100% sure who won it. I’d need to watch that round again. Don’t know how the judges scored round 3 for pantoja, ecreg was on his way to winning round 5 but his corner had convinced him he couldn’t win a decision to get more urgency out of him and it backfired.

@Joshjeffords
Out of curiosity, in your TOTALLY unbiased watch of the fight in slow motion,  what rounds did you give to "pants" and what are the 3 Erceg rounds ? Always nice to explore other people idea of what a robbery looks like.

Most times it goes down to "I picked him and he lost so it's a robbery" doesn't matter how close the fight was or even if you usually prefer wrestling or prefer striking,  if the guy you picked lost then your preference to the way someone wins switchs up real Quick.

There is also the nationatily haters. If the person is from "X"  i hate him/her so if they lose is not a robbery, if they win it is a robbery. Ex: Dage haters, Brazilian haters etc..  Have not seen American haters yet but they might be in sites with their own language.

Doesn't matter if it's the most clean cut card ever. There will be a MF calling robbery.

R3 was interesting because Erceg landed big and cut Alex open. HOWEVER. Before the cut Pantoja was completly outstriking him, doubling the significant strikes (and you didn't really need statistics to see that he was a step ahead in the striking), and after the cut, Pantoja got a TD and a lot of control time. Add all that up and you'll see that Erceg didn't do enough to take that round.
It was 2-2 going into in the 5th and Erceg threw his chances with the takedown attempt. Fair and simple, Pantoja 3-2.
9/10 when MMA community is screaming robbery they have no idea *** they're even talking about. CLOSE FIGHT ISN'T A ROBBERY.

The funniest thing to me was people trying to justify Erceg cutting pantoja open as a reason to why he should’ve won. Cuts NEVER get scored, it’s about the effect the strike has on the fighter, not how badly they got opened up

I agree. All fight as my buddies and I were watching, they kept talking about how, "Pantoja is bleeding and man that cut is damaging!". Yeah, that damage only counts when the cut was made by the strike. It doesn't transition into the next round/s because he's still, "damaged", by it.

Pantoja clearly won 1, 3 and 5 rounds. In those rounds he landed the most significant blows and outgrappled Erceg.

Erceg deserves great credit, I personally thought that Pantoja was going to submit him in the second or third round, but he had a great fight and has the level to win/make close fights against Royval, Albazi, Kape and from my point of view he should not have problems to beat Perez or KKF, the Australian is a really well rounded fighter.

But at the same time it is disrespectful to the champion to think that the decision was a robbery, the fight was close and Alexandre won it with the last takedown but it was a 48-47 fair and square (close fight, but clear round for both fighters).

Not disrespecting Pantoja I just do shorthand with my phone.
Also I'm a big fan of his and his heavy pressure style.
